Concept
and Design
Antarctica is committed to developing and building
strong, durable mountain shelters that can be used with confidence
in remote regions.
Antarctica Tents have been built to meet the requirements of serious
mountaineers and travellers for extended expedition use in extreme
conditions, for alpine climbing and remote backpacking.
The range comprises four, two-person tents designed on sound geodesic
principles of strength, lightness and the ability to withstand high
winds and keep out the elements. The range includes the Pole
Star, the Southern Cross, the
South Pole and the Northern
Light. All four tents have a large front end for convenience
and an aerodynamic rear.
The design and specifications, materials
and tent poles used are the result of many years experience in the
development and manufacture of mountain tents, combined with regular
use and testing in seven continents.
Final prototype testing was undertaken on a successful ascent of
Mount McKinley by Steve Bell of HKE, on the last of his Seven Continental
Summits.
